Looks like McDonald's is having it "their way"

The competition amongst burger joints has apparently reached unparalleled heights. See below...

No more MOR...

Today was my very last day in the main OR. Can you believe it? I've got 2 non-clinical days to spend with a visiting professor, and then it's off to the world of labor and delivery (obstetric anesthesia) for one month in December, which should be okay. Only 6 calls next month. Non-call days 7A to 4P. Nice, eh?

From January on...it's research. Can you say, chill? : )

What am I going to be researching? I have absolutely no idea...perhaps, I'll be answering the eternal question of Coke vs. Pepsi, how much can a man sleep before it begins to reduce his life expectancy, or how does Hostess REALLY get that creamy filling in the middle of a Twinkie. All of life's truly great mysteries. Where else could these questions possibly be answered besides the hallowed grounds of Hahvahd?

Actually, the truth is, I'm supposed to be doing clinical research in the surgical ICU's at my hospital. But my research advisor is not being of much help to me. He's asked me to do various things, come up with research questions, develop proposals, etc. I've done all those things, but he hasn't even looked at any of it yet and it's been over a month!!! Which means...I'll have nothing to do come January. All of these proposals will have to go to the IRB and then they'll kick it back to us to tell us to make changes, etc. It'll be months before anything gets started. AAAAGGHHH! I keep bugging him about it, but he hasn't been very responsive.

Sufficed to say, it's quite frustrating. So, I'm beginning to think that I need to come up with a backup plan...which is what I'm working on now. We'll see what happens. I'm going to investigate some possible opportunities at MGH and the School of Public Health.

In other news, Ran went to go see the doctor again today. I'd share what's going on, but that would be a HIPAA violation. : )

Anyway, I'd better get some work done. Peace out.

Walking the line...

Watched the movie, "Walk the Line," yesterday with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Pretty good movie. Saw it with some friends from church....Alison, Sarah, and, my best friend, Ran. : )

Anyway, it got me thinking about a lot of things. First of all, what is "Walking the line"? Was JR walking it? Why? Why not?

It's pretty late...so here are my answers....it means being honest with yourself and others...No...and No, because the heart is deceitful above all things, is it not? Okay, I'm not very coherent right now. So I'll probably have to come back to this another time. But if you're interested, I've put some hyperlinks below. The Hollywood Jesus thing is something that I googled. There are some interesting things in there. And well, rottentomatoes? It's my resource for all movies. Sorry for such a lame entry...it's my rookie year. I just wanted to get in the habit of doing it. Fear not. More profound entries await you from my fount of deep thoughts. Gotta get some zzzz's.

This is a test...

...of the Emergency Broadcast System. This is only a test.

Um...actually this is really a test to see whether or not Blogger really works with Mac's. I tried using Blogger a few months ago. But much to my disappointment it didn't seem very compatible, thus, preventing my profound thoughts from reaching the expansive world of the web.

But I have now discovered that Firefox works well with Blogger for Macs.

Anyway, EM made me do this. So, here it is E. Hope you're happy now.

Actually, I've really been meaning to start a blog, but the list of excuses was seemingly inexhaustable. I'm too busy (I have a 4 day weekend)...can't find a good site (found out Blogger can work with Macs) ...

All righty then. Let's see if this thing really does work. Here goes...
